CSL Staffing Now Hiring: Street Outreach Specialist

- Position: Street Outreach Specialist
- Pay: $25.00
- Position Type: Temp to hire
- Field & Office-75% of your time in the field & 25% in office
Schedule:
- Up to 32 hours Monday through Friday
- The remaining 8 hours worked over the weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday).
- Weekend availability is a requirement for these positions. However, if no outreach events or operational needs are scheduled for a particular weekend, those hours may be completed during the regular Monday through Friday workweek.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct team-based, in-person outreach, paired with another outreach staff member
- Perform outreach at community locations including food banks, parks, shelters, and encampments
- Spending mornings in the field engaging individuals experiencing homelessness and building trust, returning to the office around 2:00 PM to complete documentation, data entry, follow-ups, and coordination
- Plan outreach routes, review referrals, and coordinate daily tasks with the Outreach Program Manager
- Engage clients using trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally responsive approaches
- Assess client needs and provide education on available resources, including housing, case management, behavioral health, medical services, and benefits enrollment
- Complete program intakes, enroll eligible individuals, and obtain required signed authorizations (ROI/consents)
- Communicate with case management, housing navigation, health, and social service teams to ensure seamless service linkage
- Respond to internal referrals and partner agency outreach requests
- Monitor community trends and provide updates on new or shifting encampments
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in healthcare, outreach, social services, or a similar setting
- Experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance
Preferred:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree
- Experience in outreach, case management, or community-based services
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills
- Excellent organization and attention to documentation timelines
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing
- Comfortable working in outdoor, street-based environments
- Professional, reliable, and collaborative team member
- Travel & Physical Requirements
- Regular travel throughout the San Diego region (mileage reimbursement provided)
- Combination of desk work and outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions
- Ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed

Work Location: In person
