The Substitute Teacher plays an essential role in the classroom by providing educational, social, and emotional development for all students by following the program standards of Educare of Omaha, Early Head Start, Sixpence, Nebraska Department of Education, and NAEYC. The Substitute Teacher enhances student learning during the period of absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining the program’s educational requirement as well as meeting the children’s individual needs.

Assigned to one Educare school (Kellom, Indian Hill, Skinner, Gateway, or Kennedy)
SCHEDULE
Temporary Full-time and Temporary Part-time (8-40 hours per week)
Two Substitute Opportunities Available
Tier 1 – Center-Based On-Call Floater-
Flexible, on-call schedule (up to 3 shifts per week)

Provide classroom coverage for daily absences, planning blocks, or short-term needs

Great fit for candidates seeking flexibility and experience in early childhood settings
Tier 2 – Vacancy Coverage Pool-
Provide a set schedule bi-weekly

Provide consistent support in a set classroom to one Educare school where there is an ongoing vacancy

Float across Educare sites as needed

Substitute Teachers and Assistants are eligible for insurance benefits if working 30+ hours per week.
