American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Observation Unit (MedSurg) position requiring 1 year of experience and heavy telemetry skills.

Patient population consists of miscellaneous medical observation cases with heavy telemetry monitoring via central monitoring
-
Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6 with charge nurse occasionally taking patients

CNA support available on the floor when staffing allows
-
Common titratable drip is Heparin only
-
No ventilator equipment on this unit
-
RNs perform their own EKGs and draw their own labs
-
Discharges of up to 16 patients per day with admissions and refills, in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment

Uses MEDITECH EMR system
-
Day shift schedule, 7a-7p
-
Every other weekend required
-
Holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff

Floating required to other MedSurg units
-
No call or standby requirements
-
Active RN license (GA or Compact) currently in hand

Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
-
ACLS certification not required but highly recommended
-
Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

At least 1 prior travel assignment required

Acute care setting experience required

Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for placement

Not eligible for placement if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months

Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts

Dress code is Caribbean Blue scrub top and bottom, or white top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white top and bottom
