Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Carpenter to oversee and execute a wide range of carpentry and construction projects. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in residential and/or commercial carpentry, who can manage crews, ensure high-quality workmanship, and maintain project timelines. The Lead Carpenter is responsible for coordinating daily job site activities, mentoring apprentices and laborers, and ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across all phases of construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a crew of carpenters, apprentices, and laborers on job sites
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans to ensure accurate layout and execution
- Perform skilled carpentry work including framing, trim, cabinetry, doors, windows, decks, and other structural or finish tasks
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely completion of work
- Inspect and verify measurements, materials, and workmanship for quality and accuracy
- Maintain daily logs, track project progress, and report updates to supervisors
- Manage material orders, deliveries, and inventory on-site
- Enforce and model safe work practices in accordance with OSHA and company standards
- Train and mentor junior carpenters and apprentices to develop skills and uphold quality standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues or design conflicts efficiently
- Ensure job sites remain organized, clean, and compliant with safety and company policies
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience, including framing and finish work
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Physical ability to perform hands-on carpentry and lift 50+ lbs
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred:
- Experience in residential remodeling, custom homes, or light commercial work

Pay: $12.00 - $25.00 per hour
