JOB SUMMARY
Manage EH&S programs, activities, and partner with Kalas associates to reach the organization’s environmental sustainability and behavior-based safety culture initiatives. As a key member of the Kalas Leadership team, develop the strategic plan for EHS continuous improvement projects to achieve performance metrics.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions)
- Responsible for managing the organizational EHS Program and the planning, scheduling, and directing of required activities to ensure regulatory compliance promoting an accident-free work environment.
- Manage Worker’s Compensation program including treatment and claim submissions to third-party administer for processing. Participate in quarterly claims review and communicate claim status updates to operations leadership teams.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct and coordinate EHS compliance training, develop the organization’s training plan, and maintain the corporate training database.
- Lead the investigation of accidents, injuries, and environmental escapes. Develop reports, documentation of material evidence, and participate in preparation for litigation and insurance inquiries with the organization’s representation.
- Maintains record retention schedule and electronic EH&S file system database.
- Facilitate and accompany third-party and regulatory officials during safety, health, and environmental inspection audits.
- Creates a positive working atmosphere that promotes creativity, enthusiasm, and morale in Kalas manufacturing facilities by developing a culture of inclusivity for all associates and improvement suggests.
- Support the ISO14001 certified Environmental Mgmt. System (EMS). Ensures that policies are being executed as documented and that the system is delivering the desired results. Performs duties as documented in the EMS.
- Establish and coordinate effective systems and procedures for the security of our associates and facilities. Includes items such as alarm systems, emergency plans, entry/ egress systems.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the operating needs of Kalas or as directed by senior management, including but not exclusive to: Managing compliance with environmental issues, involvement in the emergency preparedness planning.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- B.S. degree in Occupational Safety and Hygiene Management, or related field
- 3+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
