Processes bulk and other special mailings; operates automated inserting and folding machine; sorts mail by zip codes; affixes postage utilizing automated postage metering machine; prepares bulk mail report; delivers bulk mailings to Post Office; troubleshoots problems with automated equipment.
Maintains supplies and equipment; maintains inventories of supplies, forms, and equipment; ensures availability of adequate supplies to complete work activities; performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, cleaning equipment, and cleaning work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
Operates a City vehicle; conducts pre- and post-trip inspections, including checking all fluids, gauges, lighting, mirrors, tires, body damage, seats and seatbelts, cleanliness of vehicle, etc.; loads and unloads materials, supplies and equipment as needed to complete assigned projects; reports all problems or necessary repairs to appropriate personnel immediately; completes and maintains inspection, gas usage and other associated documentation.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, work orders, inventory sheets, time sheets, fuel usage records, odometer readings, or other documentation of service activities; forwards, retains, or files, as appropriate.
Receives various forms, reports, work orders, maintenance reports, equipment specifications, schematics, manuals, policies, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Communicates with supervisor, City employees, postal workers, consultants, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Operates automated mail equipment, automobile, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
High school diploma or GED is preferred; experience in mail delivery or mailroom operations is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.
