Duties
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, games, music therapy, and social events
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility support, ensuring comfort and dignity at all times
- Support residents with memory care needs by implementing specialized engagement strategies for individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia
- Coordinate schedules for activities and ensure timely execution to maximize participation and enjoyment
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to monitor residents’ well-being during activities and report any concerns or changes in condition
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive community atmosphere
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment by organizing activity supplies and ensuring all equipment is in good condition
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care programs, and senior care best practices is advantageous
- Background in recreational therapy or working with individuals with disabilities enhances your ability to connect meaningfully with residents
- Experience in event planning or organizing group activities demonstrates your ability to create engaging programs
- Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with residents, families, and staff
- Prior caregiving or long-term care experience provides a solid foundation for understanding aging issues and providing compassionate support
- Familiarity with home & community care environments helps tailor activities to diverse needs
