An effective skilled and dependable Crane and Equipment Mechanic maintain, services, and may assist in mobilization of our fleet of cranes and jobsite equipment used in structural steel erection. This role includes servicing hydraulic and rough terrain cranes, manlifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, welders, and related heavy and other equipment.
This person will also operate a company-provided service truck (CDL required), support field crews on active job sites, and ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for operation. Occasional overnight travel is required.

Various manlifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, welding machines, and other support equipment.

Conduct hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical system diagnostics and repairs.

Maintain accurate service records, inspections, and repair documentation.

Perform annual, quarterly, and prelift inspections per manufacturer and industry standards.

Assist in mobilization/demobilization of cranes and equipment to and from job sites.

Operate service truck equipped with tools and diagnostic equipment.

Respond to urgent equipment issues on job sites to minimize downtime.

Work closely with crane operators, foremen, and project teams to ensure equipment readiness.

Licenses and Certifications
-
Valid CDL (Class A or B) with a clean driving record.

Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
-
Mobile crane mechanic or OEM certifications (preferred but not required).

Minimum 35 years experience as a crane mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or similar field.

Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, diesel engines, and load handling equipment.

Ability to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.

Experience with mobile crane manufacturers (Liebherr, Grove, Manitowoc, etc.) preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to shifting priorities.

Problem solving mindset with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Typical schedule: MondayThursday, 6:00 AM5:00 PM (Fridays as needed and overtime and occasional weekends as needed to meet project deadlines).

Local and/or overnight travel between shop, suppliers, and job sites using company service truck as assigned.

Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100+ lbs with assistance or mechanical aid.

Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb in indoor/outdoor environments for extended periods.

Work in confined spaces, awkward positions, and areas with limited mobility when accessing equipment or performing repairs.

Work on uneven surfaces, around moving equipment, at heights (with proper fall protection), and in tight or restricted areas as needed.

Tolerate exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind), dust, dirt, grease, and noise.

Use appropriate PPE (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, highvisibility vest, hearing protection, steeltoe boots).

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated work platforms, and heavy equipment traffic.
