Job Title: Barista – Farmers Market & Event Pop-Ups
Job Summary
Join Remi Lou Café as a Barista and be part of our traveling team bringing Vietnamese coffee, Thai tea, and matcha drinks to farmers markets and fairs across the Fox Valley/Kane-DuPage area. You'll craft our signature beverages, deliver warm, fast customer service at a bustling indoor/outdoor booth, and help create the lively market atmosphere our regulars love. This role is a great fit for someone energetic, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on their feet indoor/outdoors in a fast-paced pop-up setting.
Duties
- Prepare and serve Vietnamese cold brew, Thai tea, matcha lattes, and other Plume Collection drinks with consistency and care
- Operate our Dripos POS system to process sales accurately and efficiently
- Handle cash transactions and make correct change with confidence
- Set up and break down the booth at market/fair locations, including equipment and signage
- Maintain a clean, organized prep and service station that meets food safety standards
- Greet customers warmly, take orders promptly, and answer questions about our menu and Southeast Asian flavor profiles
- Follow food safety protocols during prep and service
- Restock ingredients, cups, and supplies throughout market hours
- Travel to different market/fair sites as scheduled (Geneva, Lisle, Elgin, Aurora, Roselle, plus occasional fairs)
Experience
- Previous barista or food service experience preferred but not required — we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn our menu
- Comfortable handling cash and making accurate change
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to rotating market locations
- Able to work outdoors and on your feet during market hours, in varying weather
- Strong time management skills to keep up during rushes
- Positive, friendly attitude that fits a small, close-knit team
- Basic understanding of food safety and food handling practices
Pay: $16–$20/hour, based on experience
