Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Surgical First Assistant to join our dynamic surgical team. Duties
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures by providing exposure, tissue retraction, and suturing support using open surgical techniques.
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all necessary surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile, organized, and ready for use.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during surgery, adjusting support as needed to ensure patient stability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize perioperative care, patient safety, and hospital medicine protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Surgical First Assistant in plastics setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical techniques across multiple specialties including pediatrics, critical care, emergency medicine, and medical-surgical units.
- Skilled in suturing, open surgical assistance, and maintaining sterile fields in high-pressure environments.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to perioperative or trauma care are a plus.
- Excellent analysis skills for assessing patient needs quickly and accurately during complex procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within surgical environments emphasizing infection prevention and control practices.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining patient safety standards.
