The university supervisor represents SUNY Cortland while overseeing student teachers, facilitates a strong university-school partnership, and mentors and evaluates student teachers. Opportunities for supervision are available near Cortland, on Long Island, and in New York City.

Major Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities:
- Fulfillment of all responsibilities/duties of a supervisor as outlined in the Student Teaching Handbook, department orientation, training and university communications.
- Contact and meet with student teachers and host teachers either before or at the beginning of the student teaching placement.
- Make regular visits, including written observation reports, and confer with each student teacher after observations.
- Confer with each student teacher after each observation and provide both oral and written feedback during the post-observation conference.
- Maintain regular communication with each host teacher regarding the progress of student teachers.
- Complete evaluation work in Watermark and submit quarterly grades for student teachers.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
- Availability to fulfill job obligations during standard school hours (applicants with concurrent full-time commitments, including P-12 school personnel, are not eligible for the position of a SUNY Cortland student teaching supervisor).
- Experience in secondary school settings.
- Familiarity with New York State Teacher Certification requirements and learning standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree
- Previous mentoring or supervisory experience
- Current or past teacher certification in secondary social studies.
