Position Overview
The Security Guard serves as the first and last point of contact for the store experience - enuring for a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for guests and staff. This role blends security presence with hospitality, maintaining control of entry, monitoring store activity, and supporting team operations without disrupting the elevated customer experience.
Core Responsibilities
Access Control & Guest Flow
- Greet and manage incoming guests while maintaining a professional, welcoming presence
- Verify government-issued ID and enforce all entry requirements in compliance with NYS regulations
- Monitor customer flow to ensure safe occupancy levels and efficient store entry
- Maintain clear communication with the sales floor team regarding guest volume and wait times
Safety & Asset Protection
- Maintain a visible and proactive presence to deter theft, diversion, and disruptive behavior
- Monitor in-store activity, entry points, and surrounding areas for potential risks
- Support enforcement of company policies related to safety, loitering, and prohibited activity
- Respond quickly and calmly to incidents, escalating as needed per company protocol
Surveillance & Compliance
- Monitor surveillance systems and report irregular activity or security concerns
- Ensure adherence to all NYS cannabis security and compliance requirements
- Complete incident reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding store operations and customer activity
Team Support & Operations
- Partner with store leadership to ensure a secure and smooth daily operation
- Assist with opening and closing procedures related to security protocols
- Support safe product transfers, deliveries, and cash movements as directed
- Communicate clearly with management regarding any concerns or incidents
Guest Experience & Brand Alignment
- Uphold a calm, polished, and approachable demeanor at all times
- Balance security enforcement with a hospitality-first mindset
- Ensure all guests feel safe, respected, and welcomed upon entry
- Represent the Highest Standards brand through professionalism and discretion
Qualifications
- Prior experience in retail security, hospitality security, or regulated environments preferred
- Strong understanding of access control, de-escalation, and situational awareness
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
- Valid NYS Security Guard License (required)
- Must be 21+ years old
