Mobile Phlebotomist (Independent Contractor – 1099)

Pay:
- $20.00 per successful blood draw
- $15.00 per completed urine collection
- $25.00 per completed blood draw + urine collection combination

About Us
1 on 1 Phlebotomy LLC is a concierge phlebotomy company providing professional mobile specimen collection services throughout Michigan. We perform collections in patients' homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, physician offices, clinical research studies, and other healthcare settings.
We are currently seeking dependable, professional, and experienced Mobile Phlebotomists to join our growing team of independent contractors.
Applicants who reside in or near Macomb County are strongly encouraged to apply due to current client demand.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection services.
- Properly identify patients prior to collection.
- Follow laboratory and client collection instructions.
- Properly label specimens and complete all required documentation.
- Complete electronic and paper documentation accurately.
- Package and prepare specimens for shipment.
- Verify UPS and FedEx shipping deadlines before specimen drop-off.
- Ensure specimens are shipped within required timelines.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Communicate professionally with patients, facilities, laboratories, and Company staff.
Compensation
- $20.00 per successful blood draw.
- $15.00 per completed urine collection.
- $25.00 per completed blood draw and urine collection combination.
- Compensation is paid weekly.
- Experienced contractors who consistently demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and quality performance may become eligible for specialty assignments that pay an additional $10–$15 per completed draw, depending on the client and assignment.
- Payment is contingent upon:
- Successful collection of required specimen(s)
- Accurate completion of documentation
- Proper specimen labeling
- Compliance with laboratory and client requirements
- Proper specimen packaging and shipment when applicable
Assignments that cannot be completed due to contractor error, unsuccessful venipuncture, failure to follow collection instructions, or failure to properly package and ship specimens are not eligible for compensation.
Documented patient refusals, patient no-shows, facility cancellations, or circumstances outside of the contractor's control may qualify for reduced compensation when all required documentation is submitted.
As an Independent Contractor (1099), contractors are responsible for their own federal, state, and local taxes.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must satisfy one of the following qualification pathways:
Option 1 – Certified Phlebotomist
- Current phlebotomy certification
- Minimum two (2) years of verifiable phlebotomy experience
Option 2 – Experienced Non-Certified Phlebotomist
- Minimum two (2) years of verifiable phlebotomy experience
- Two professional references capable of verifying phlebotomy experience
Option 3 – Live Skills Assessment
Applicants who do not possess a phlebotomy certification and cannot provide sufficient documentation of experience may qualify through a live venipuncture assessment.
The applicant must provide their own draw participant for the assessment.
To pass the assessment, the applicant must:
- Successfully perform two (2) separate venipunctures
- Successfully obtain specimens from both venipunctures
- Properly identify the draw participant
- Follow proper infection control procedures
- Properly label specimen tubes
- Complete both venipunctures without assistance
Order of Draw Assessment
All applicants may be required to complete an Order of Draw competency assessment.
Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of the proper order of draw for commonly used collection tubes and achieve a passing score as determined by the Company.
