Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dynamic General Manager to lead our retail operations with enthusiasm and strategic vision. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of store management, driving sales growth, ensuring exceptional customer service, and fostering a motivated team environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive retail management experience, and a passion for delivering outstanding shopping experiences. As a key leader, you will be responsible for managing daily operations, optimizing inventory control, and implementing effective marketing strategies to achieve business objectives.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the retail team, including hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating staff to ensure high performance and excellent customer service.
- Oversee daily store operations such as cash handling, POS system management, cashiering, and inventory management to maintain operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement sales strategies, pricing policies, and merchandising plans to maximize revenue and meet sales targets.
- Manage purchasing decisions, stock levels, inventory control, and product placement to ensure a well-stocked and attractive store environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, provide training & development opportunities, and foster a positive work culture focused on teamwork and accountability.
- Monitor financial performance through budgeting, payroll oversight, bookkeeping, and operational reports to ensure profitability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and customer service standards while maintaining excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in the retail industry with a strong background in store management or supervisory roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in sales management, inventory control, merchandising, and operational oversight.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively through managerial communication and bilingual or multilingual abilities preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with experience in recruiting, interviewing, employee orientation, training & development.
- Proficiency with POS systems, wireless sales tools, cash handling procedures, bookkeeping software, and basic math skills for retail math calculations.
- Experience in grocery or specialty retail stores is advantageous; familiarity with grocery store operations is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently using time management skills while maintaining attention to detail in all tasks.
