Job Title: Director of Supply Chain & Logistics

Position Overview
The Director of Supply Chain & Logistics is responsible for leading and optimizing end-to-end supply chain operations within a food manufacturing environment. This role oversees procurement, demand planning, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and distribution to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of products from suppliers to customers.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in food manufacturing supply chains, including regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, FSMA), temperature-controlled logistics, and shelf-life optimization, while driving continuous improvement and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with business objectives
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, sales, and finance teams
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in supply chain efficiency, cost reduction, and service levels
- Build and mentor a high-performing supply chain and logistics team
2. Demand Planning & Inventory Management
- Oversee demand forecasting and sales & operations planning (S&OP)
- Optimize inventory levels while minimizing waste, spoilage, and obsolescence
- Ensure appropriate safety stock levels for perishable goods
- Implement systems to improve visibility and accuracy of inventory data
3. Procurement & Supplier Management
- Lead sourcing strategy and supplier negotiations for raw materials and packaging
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Ensure supplier compliance with food safety and quality standards
- Mitigate supply risk through diversification and contingency planning
4. Logistics & Distribution
- Manage inbound and outbound transportation, including refrigerated logistics
- Optimize warehouse operations, distribution networks, and fulfillment processes
- Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery to customers and distribution partners
- Oversee third-party logistics (3PL) providers and carrier relationships
5. Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements
- Maintain traceability systems for raw materials and finished goods
- Support internal and external audits related to supply chain operations
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to uphold food safety standards
6. Technology & Systems
- Lead implementation and optimization of ERP, WMS, and TMS systems
- Use data analytics to improve forecasting, inventory accuracy, and logistics efficiency
- Drive digital transformation initiatives across the supply chain
7. Financial Performance
- Develop and manage supply chain budgets
- Analyze costs related to procurement, warehousing, and transportation
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or service levels
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs)

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, preferably in food manufacturing or CPG
- 5+ years in a leadership role managing end-to-end supply chain operations
- Experience with perishable goods and temperature-controlled logistics strongly preferred
- Proven track record of driving operational improvements and cost reductions

Work Environment
