Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services using estimating software.
- Utilize construction management software and spreadsheets to develop comprehensive project budgets and track costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct material cost estimating by analyzing blueprints and technical drawings to determine quantities and requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously by estimating construction costs, monitoring budgets, and ensuring timely delivery within financial parameters.
- Review construction plans regularly to identify potential risks or discrepancies that could impact costs or schedules.
- Support project managers by providing accurate estimates that align with project scope, schedule, and client expectations.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimating activities, including bid proposals, change orders, and cost analyses.
- Stay current with industry trends, new estimating tools like Bluebeam or Xactimate, and best practices in construction cost management.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator specializing in commercial projects within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, or equivalent tools.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and technical specifications accurately.
- Extensive experience managing project budgets from initial estimate through completion with a focus on cost control.
- Skilled in negotiating with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to achieve optimal pricing strategies.
- Familiarity with construction management software platforms for scheduling, budgeting, and documentation purposes.
- Solid understanding of material requirements estimation from blueprints combined with experience in construction site review.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and internal team collaboration.
- Construction site experience is highly desirable to better understand on-the-ground realities impacting estimates.
- Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
