Our newest proprietary eye-tracking technology SynapCheck, provides objective, rapid concussion assessment designed to support athletic trainers, physicians, and sports medicine professionals in making more informed return-to-play decisions.
As we expand our clinical validation and commercial deployment, we are seeking an experienced sports medicine professional to join our growing team.
Position Overview
This is a unique opportunity for a former collegiate athletic trainer or sports medicine professional to play a key role in both clinical research and customer implementation.
The successful candidate will lead the operational execution of a large-scale clinical study at Quinnipiac University while also helping introduce SynapCheck's technology into high school and collegiate athletic programs. This role offers the opportunity to influence the future of concussion assessment while working directly with athletes, athletic trainers, physicians, and university partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Study Leadership
- Coordinate and execute a prospective clinical validation study involving approximately 650 Quinnipiac University student-athletes.
- Schedule and conduct baseline testing using SynapCheck's eye-tracking technology.
- Coordinate comparative testing alongside the SCAT6 concussion assessment protocol.
- Work closely with university athletic trainers, team physicians, coaching staff, and research personnel.
- Ensure accurate collection, documentation, and management of study data.
- Maintain compliance with IRB requirements, study protocols, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Provide regular study progress updates to SynapCheck leadership.
Customer Implementation & Training
- Lead onboarding and implementation of SynapCheck technology within high school and collegiate athletic programs.
- Train athletic trainers, sports medicine staff, and administrators on product use and best practices.
- Serve as the primary clinical resource during implementation and early adoption.
- Build strong relationships with athletic departments and sports medicine professionals.
- Gather customer feedback to improve product functionality and implementation processes.
- Represent SynapCheck at conferences, demonstrations, and customer meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Experience as a collegiate athletic trainer or sports medicine professional.
- Strong understanding of concussion assessment and return-to-play protocols.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Outstanding communication and presentation abilities.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and athletic programs.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Athletic Training or related discipline.
- Current or previous Athletic Trainer certification (ATC).
- Experience conducting clinical research or participating in research studies.
- Familiarity with SCAT6 or other concussion assessment tools.
- Experience athletic training healthcare professionals.
- Interest in sports technology, digital health, or medical device innovation.
