Northwest Animal Hospital is growing, and we are looking for a experienced Veterinary Technician to join our busy AAHA accredited practice in Boise, Idaho.
We are looking for full time which CAN include weekends.

Veterinary Technicians support veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical care to companion animals. This role combines clinical, laboratory, surgical, and client-education responsibilities while maintaining a safe, efficient, and compassionate hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures
- Safely restrain animals using low-stress handling techniques
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed
- Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes promptly
- Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and sample collection
Laboratory & Diagnostics
- Run in-house laboratory tests (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, fecals)
- Prepare and submit reference lab samples
- Obtain and process diagnostic imaging (X-rays, dental radiographs)
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory and imaging equipment
Surgery & Anesthesia
- Prepare patients and surgical suites
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Maintain sterile technique and instrument care
- Perform dental cleanings and assist with oral procedures (where permitted)
Client Communication & Education
- Educate clients on medications, treatments, nutrition, and post-op care
- Obtain medical histories and explain procedures
- Support discharge instructions and follow-up care
Hospital Operations
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Clean, disinfect, and restock exam rooms and treatment areas
- Follow safety, infection-control, and controlled-substance protocols
- Assist with inventory management and equipment upkeep
Our ideal candidate will have at least 1 Year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or CVT, including anesthesia and dentistry experience. However, we are willing to train the right person with at least 2 years Veterinary Experience. Our hospital thrives on positivity, teamwork, communication and hard work, so our candidate must be hard working, positive, outgoing and have great attention to detail. Shifts may vary and can include weekends
