About the role
Shuttlebee is hiring independent operators to run a dedicated school route serving Greater Philadelphia families in Center City. This is not gig work. You are assigned one route with the same 6-9 students and the same stops every school day, and you keep that route for the school year.
Routes run mornings 6:45–8:15am and afternoons 2:45–4:15pm, with a second 4:30 route available to our early applicants — roughly 20 hours per week. The middle of your day is your own, and many of our operators run other work or businesses during those hours.
Lease-to-own van program
We connect qualified operators with lenders who finance 10-passenger vans specifically for independent transportation operators. You make the payments, you build equity, and the van is yours at the end of the term.
Start out as a W2, driving our vehicle. Increase your pay by leasing your vehicle. We’ll provide financial literacy training, connections to vetted lenders and walk you through the numbers before you sign anything.
If you already own a qualifying 10-passenger vehicle, you can skip the program entirely.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport 6-9 students on an assigned route, morning and afternoon
- Follow school pickup and drop-off protocols
- Confirm attendance and communicate with families through the Shuttlebee app
- Correctly install and check boosters and restraints
- Maintain your vehicle in safe, clean, inspection-ready condition
- Complete pre and post-check inspections
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and 10+ years of driving experience
- Clean DMV record
- Pass a comprehensive background check
- Complete Shuttlebee University certification
- Comfortable and patient with school-age children
