Job Summary
The General Laborer plays a foundational role in supporting the day-to-day production operations of our non-ferrous metal manufacturing environment. This position ensures the safe and efficient flow of materials through the production process, contributing directly to our ability to meet output schedules and maintain quality standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, and takes pride in being a dependable contributor to the overall success of floor operations.
What You'll Do
- Safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment to transport raw materials, scrap metal, and finished product throughout the production floor in compliance with all operational and safety protocols.
- Accurately weigh, prepare, and load furnace charges with the appropriate metal and materials in accordance with production schedules and specifications.
- Load and operate melting furnaces, monitoring conditions to ensure the production process runs continuously and efficiently.
- Execute the pouring of molten metal with precision and care, adhering to established quality and safety standards at each stage of the process.
- Stack, sort, organize, and inspect finished metal product in designated areas, communicating any quality observations to your supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area while adhering to all workplace health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment at all times.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or foundry environment is highly beneficial but not required.
- Reliable transportation required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated mechanical ability, including experience working with hand tools and power tools in an industrial setting.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including frequent lifting, standing, and exposure to heat and noise.
- Strong attention to safety practices and commitment to following established protocols and procedures.
- Dependable team player with a strong work ethic and willingness to assist with a variety of production-related tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift operation experience preferred; forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification required.
- Previous experience in a foundry, metals, or heavy industrial environment.
