Position Overview The Middle School Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic growth, critical thinking, and social development for students in grades 5–8. Middle school teachers deliver high-quality instruction aligned with curriculum standards while helping students develop the organizational skills, independence, and confidence needed for academic success.
Teachers work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and families to support the whole child and ensure that students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum Implementation Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote deep understanding of subject matter. Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Provide clear instruction that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Incorporate meaningful learning activities that connect content to real-world applications.
Student Engagement and Classroom Environment Establish a positive and structured classroom environment that supports student learning and growth. Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and student accountability. Foster a culture where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to participate.
Assessment and Data Use Develop and administer assessments to monitor student understanding and progress. Use assessment data, including benchmark and classroom assessments, to guide instruction and support student learning. Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students improve and grow academically.
Differentiated Instruction and Student Support Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners, including students who require additional academic support or enrichment. Collaborate with interventionists, support staff, and leadership to implement strategies that support student success. Participate in MTSS/RTI processes when needed.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities Work collaboratively with grade-level and subject-area teams to plan instruction and share best practices. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions. Support school initiatives designed to improve student achievement and instructional quality.
Family Communication Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, expectations, and concerns. Provide updates on academic performance, behavior, and classroom activities.
Student Development and Leadership Support the social and emotional development of middle school students. Help students develop responsibility, organization, and effective study habits. Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and behavior.
Professional Growth Participate in ongoing professional learning to strengthen instructional practices and subject knowledge. Reflect on teaching practices and seek opportunities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field Valid teaching certification appropriate for middle school grade levels Strong knowledge of subject content and instructional practices
Preferred: Experience teaching in a middle school setting Experience working with diverse learners Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and data-driven teaching

Working Environment
Middle school teachers work closely with students in grades 5–8 and collaborate regularly with other teachers, instructional leaders, and school staff. The role requires active engagement in classroom instruction, student support, team planning, and school activities.
