Role Description The AfterSchool Instructor is a part-time, on-site role based in Cupertino, CA. This position is responsible for leading in-person Math classes for K–8 students, following provided curricula and adapting activities to different age groups and learning styles. The instructor prepares classroom setups, explains concepts in clear, age-appropriate language, and guides students through projects, demonstrations, and collaborative exercises. Day-to-day tasks include managing classroom behavior, ensuring student safety, communicating with parents and school partners as needed, and tracking attendance and basic student progress.
Qualifications
- Ability to explain Math in clear, engaging, age-appropriate ways for K–8 students.
- Strong classroom management, youth mentorship, and facilitation skills in group learning environments.
- Comfort with computers, educational technology tools, and interactive learning platforms used in STEM instruction.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, school partners, and parents or caregivers.
- Organization and reliability in following lesson plans, maintaining attendance and activity records.
- Prior experience teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or working with children in educational or enrichment settings is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM field, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ability to pass any required background checks and meet school or district compliance requirements.
