Lead Buyer
Focus Camera | Brooklyn, NY (On-Site)
Build Categories. Drive Growth. Own the Outcome.
Focus Camera is a high-growth, high-volume e-commerce company with 60 years in business and a reputation for winning in consumer electronics and beyond. With over 150 employees across our Brooklyn HQ and New Jersey operations, we are building the next phase of our business by expanding into new categories, new channels, and new partnerships.
We are looking for a Lead Buyer who doesn’t just purchase products but builds businesses.
This is a high-impact role where you will own brand partnerships end-to-end: from vendor strategy and SKU selection to pricing, sell-through, and full P&L performance across platforms like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and our direct channels.
If you think like an operator, act like an owner, and want to directly influence revenue and profit, this role is built for you.
What You’ll Own
- Full P&L ownership for your category
- Vendor strategy, negotiations, and relationships
- Product selection, pricing, and go-to-market strategy
- Performance across all channels (DTC, Amazon, Walmart, and more)
- Inventory flow, sell-through, and margin optimization
What You’ll Do
- Build and scale brands and product categories by identifying high-opportunity vendors, products, and trends
- Source and open new vendor relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts
- Analyze product performance, margin, and velocity to drive smart buying decisions
- Own SKU lifecycle from onboarding through optimization and exit
- Partner with marketing and platform teams to drive demand, visibility, and conversion
- Adjust pricing, promotions, and content strategy to hit revenue and profitability targets
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate closely with operations and warehouse teams
- Evaluate financial risk and make data-driven purchasing decisions
- Stay ahead of industry trends through market research, vendor engagement, and trade events
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in e-commerce buying, merchandising, or category management
- Strong understanding of Amazon, Walmart, and DTC sales dynamics
- Ability to think in terms of revenue, margin, and ROI, not just purchasing
- Experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships
- Highly analytical with the ability to translate data into action
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong communication skills across teams and with external partners
- Hands-on mindset. You are willing to dig into systems, data, and execution
What Sets You Apart
- Experience in consumer electronics, computers, or adjacent categories
- Background in scaling new product lines or launching new categories
- Experience working with ERP systems, Seller Central, and business intelligence tools
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and ownership
Why This Role Matters
This is not a maintenance role.
You are stepping into a position where you can:
- Build meaningful revenue streams
- Shape vendor strategy and partnerships
- Directly impact company growth and profitability
At Focus Camera, strong buyers don’t just manage categories. They create them.
