Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Mobile Phlebotomist, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality laboratory specimen collection services directly to patients in various settings. This energetic position offers the opportunity to provide compassionate patient care while ensuring accurate and efficient specimen collection, processing, and documentation. As a Mobile Phlebotomist, you will travel to patient locations, including homes, clinics, and long-term care facilities, bringing essential laboratory services directly to those who need them most. Your expertise in venipuncture, specimen handling, and patient interaction will help facilitate timely diagnoses and improve patient outcomes.
Duties
- Perform blood sampling and specimen collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques with precision and care.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens according to laboratory protocols to maintain sample integrity.
- Travel safely between various patient locations, adhering to scheduled appointments and maintaining punctuality.
- Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures clearly, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout the process.
- Record accurate data entry into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for each patient encounter.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection control procedures during specimen collection and handling.
- Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with basic patient care activities in diverse environments.
- Maintain all safety standards related to blood sampling, including proper disposal of sharps and biohazard materials.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding specimen status or any patient concerns.
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, or clinical laboratory work is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques, specimen collection/processing, and blood sampling methods such as venipuncture.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory practices.
- Experience working in hospital or healthcare environments is advantageous.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and documentation.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment or specimens safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care across all age groups including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred for travel purposes.
