St. Luke's Parish is seeking a full-time Pastoral Associate. This member of the pastoral staff will collaborate with the pastor, priests, deacons, and other parish ministries to serve the needs of the community. Areas of focus include adult faith formation, spiritual care, as well as outreach to the homebound and bereaved. This person will lead the OCIA and Adult Confirmation processes, the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, and the Bereavement ministry.
Will be working closely with the pastor to determine the spiritual needs of the parish and development of programs and activities to meet those needs Must be available during weekend liturgies and meetings in the evening and early morning.

Must be Roman Catholic and in full communion with the Catholic Church

Must have knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and its mission

Must have received formation in the Catholic Church and Sacramental Theology

Must possess excellent interpersonal and observational skills

Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality for all sensitive matters relating to persons and parish information

Must be able to give direction and coordinate work for self and others

Must be able to read cursive and demonstrate excellent record keeping skills

Must demonstrate the ability to present oneself modestly and professionally

Must demonstrate the ability to organize, prioritize and work effectively and efficiently

Must demonstrate good computer and technology skills including, use of MS Office applications, Zoom, digital media for catechesis, and the ability to learn other business applications software.

Must be able to work collaboratively and demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in routines and schedules
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BA, preferably in the area of theology or counseling
MA in religious studies, theology or counseling is preferred
Experience in counseling work, particularly in bereavement
Training in the OCIA process
Three to five years of experience as a Pastoral Associate

Lead the OCIA process (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), while developing lay participation as catechists, sponsors, mentors, helpers and future leaders

Lead the preparation of candidates for Adult Confirmation (spring and fall), while developing lay participation as catechists, sponsors, mentors, helpers and future leaders

Lead and participate in the parish outreach to homebound parishioners and Catholics in the local healthcare facilities
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
- Recruit and train Eucharistic Ministers for this ministry
- Visit parishioners who are in the hospital or nursing care facilities
- Maintain a list of parishioners who are receiving these services

Lead the parish outreach to the bereaved, including
- Coordination of Bereavement Support Groups using the New Day process
- Groups are to be formed 3-4 times per year
- Identify and form lay process facilitators
- Facilitate New Day meetings as needed

Collaborate with the parish Youth Minister, Director of Faith Formation, and other parish ministries to support parishioner involvement in education, faith formation programs, and other parish activities

Must be available during weekend liturgies and meetings in the evening and early morning

May be asked to perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as directed by the pastor
