SPED Compliance & Program Support | 1099 Independent Contractor
Location: Washington, DC preferred
Hours: About 10- 12 hours per week
Start Date: August/September 2026
About the Role
Fairgreen is looking for a part-time contractor to help support special education work across a few client schools.
The person will be an extension of our team; joining meetings, keeping track of action items, helping schools stay on top of deadlines, and making sure important follow-up doesn't fall through the cracks. We're looking for someone who knows special education, is organized, and can work independently while keeping everyone informed.
Responsibilities
- Attend school and client meetings
- Take notes and capture key action items
- Keep track of follow-up tasks and important deadlines
- Support schools with special education implementation and compliance needs
- Monitor progress on projects and commitments
- Maintain organized records and documentation
- Share updates with the Fairgreen team
- Flag concerns or potential compliance issues when they come up
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Special Education
- Experience working in schools, charter networks, districts, or other education settings
- Familiarity with IEPs, eligibility process and special education compliance requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
What Success Looks Like
- Meetings are attended and documented consistently
- Action items are tracked and followed through
- Deadlines are monitored and nothing important slips through the cracks
- Schools receive timely support and follow-up
