Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to report directly to the Chief Engineer and lead a team of five maintenance employees. This position is responsible for coordinating daily maintenance operations and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility equipment, guest rooms, and building systems.
The Maintenance Supervisor will provide day-to-day leadership to the maintenance team, assign and prioritize work, manage preventive maintenance schedules, monitor performance, and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, schedule, and develop a team of five maintenance employees.
- Work closely with the Chief Engineer to establish daily priorities, staffing schedules, preventive maintenance assignments, and departmental goals.
- Assign and monitor daily work orders, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate and track guest room preventive maintenance (PM) to ensure rooms and equipment are properly inspected, maintained, and documented.
- Enter and maintain employee work schedules, PM room assignments, work orders, and maintenance records using company computer systems.
- Check and respond to company email and electronic communications throughout the workday.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance employees and other departments in both English and Spanish.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems.
- Utilize the CMMS or other maintenance tracking systems to manage work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment history, and inventory.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures using electrical and mechanical schematics, meters, diagnostic equipment, and appropriate tools.
- Assist with troubleshooting high- and low-voltage electrical systems, PLCs, HVAC equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Monitor the quality and completion of maintenance work to ensure established standards are consistently met.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and work with the Chief Engineer to implement corrective actions and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, company safety policies, and applicable safety standards.
- Conduct safety discussions and reinforce a strong safety-first culture throughout the maintenance department.
- Support the Chief Engineer with facility repairs, improvement projects, contractor coordination, and other departmental needs.
- Communicate equipment conditions, maintenance concerns, staffing needs, and project status to the Chief Engineer.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to minimize disruptions to daily operations.
- Provide leadership and oversight of maintenance operations in the Chief Engineer's absence, as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and safe maintenance work environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish, verbally and in writing, to provide clear instructions and communicate with employees and other departments.
- Proven experience supervising or leading a maintenance or facilities team.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems using meters and diagnostic equipment.
- Working knowledge of PLCs and automated equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, and general workplace safety requirements.
- Ability to use a computer confidently as part of daily job responsibilities.
- Ability to create, enter, and update employee schedules and maintenance assignments electronically.
- Ability to enter, update, and track preventive maintenance for guest rooms (PM rooms) and work orders in the appropriate system.
- Ability to regularly check, read, send, and respond to email and other electronic communications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or company maintenance management software.
- Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs and respond effectively to urgent or emergency situations.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a bilingual, hands-on maintenance leader who is comfortable working both in the field and on a computer. This individual must be able to effectively lead a five-person maintenance team, communicate in English and Spanish, manage employee schedules and PM room assignments, maintain accurate electronic records, and stay current with email and departmental communications.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Engineer and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, teamwork, accountability, and excellent facility standards.
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
