Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize the student’s progress toward achieving their functional goals. The Physical Therapist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other professionals and members of the student’s IEP team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides direct student care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with the student’s family/IEP Team. Reviews students’ functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Designs and implements a plan of care for students based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporates participation by family members whenever it seems appropriate.
- Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
- Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive student outcomes.
- Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans. Regularly updates documentation and maintains prescriptions and signatures.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and educators.
- Previous PT experience in education setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of different PT methodologies and techniques.
- Ability to encourage, positively reinforce, and provide constructive feedback to students to build confidence.
- Proficiency with online teaching platforms and tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams) or ability to learn various online platforms.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
Qualifications:
- Active PT License within the state of Pennsylvania.
- FBI, Child Abuse and PA Criminal Record clearance results from within the past year or the ability to obtain during hiring process.
- Pediatric healthcare experience a plus.
