We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication between healthcare providers and patients. Duties
- Provide accurate interpretation between healthcare providers and patients in various medical settings, including hospitals and clinics.
- Translate written documents, medical records, and patient information as needed.
- Interpret for patients who use American Sign Language or other multilingual needs to ensure comprehensive understanding.
- Assist with documentation review, ensuring all interpreted information is correctly recorded in medical records.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Support social work teams by interpreting during patient interviews or family meetings related to child protective services or other social services.
- Facilitate communication during medical procedures, consultations, and discharge planning.
- Document interpretation sessions accurately for legal and medical purposes.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to improve communication processes and patient experience.
Requirements
- Multilingual proficiency with fluency in English and at least one other language; bilingual skills are essential.
- Certification or demonstrated experience in interpretation, translation, or related fields such as social work or hospital experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation review processes.
- The ability to interpret American Sign Language is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals or clinics is preferred.
- Background knowledge of child protective services procedures is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and cultural sensitivity. This position plays a crucial role in bridging communication gaps within the healthcare system, ensuring equitable access to quality care for all patients through expert interpretation services.
