Job Brief:
The construction foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of construction workers and subcontractors on multiple job sites. He or she will ensure that projects adhere to blueprints, specifications, and safety regulations while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. The foreman acts as a liaison between workers, project managers, and clients, ensuring smooth communication and project progress.
Role and Responsibilities:
Coordination of daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel.
Proactive preparation for jobs: material specification, procurement of materials, tracking material and personnel availability, tracking delivery dates and availability of products and labor support, in alignment of project requirements.
Supervise and direct trades, coordinating onsite activities in a safe and efficient manner, in support of project schedule and budgetary constraints.
Responsible delegation of tasks to individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors.
Recruitment, hiring, training, managing and mentoring employees and sub-contractors.
Provide adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs, emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets and procedures
Develop and manage project budgets and quality standards for all assigned projects. Create and track cost events, change orders, and proposals. Generate proposals and plans, document work progress for clients and others involved.
Resolve conflicts and miscommunications professionally, quickly and amicably. Communicate with clients, inspectors and administration to develop and maintain a positive working relationship.
Address unexpected issues and delays, resolve problems that may arise, in order to maintain the agreed upon budget and schedules.
Regularly report project status to supervisors, project managers and other officials in a professional manner.
Generate business opportunities and proactively recruit new clients.
Skills:
Ability to read prints, order material, supervise, build, demo, remodel, advise sub-contractors.
Experience with all aspects of carpentry and complete home/commercial remodeling to include framing, plumbing, electrical & HVAC and mechanical piping.
Familiarity with placement and installation of doors and windows, hanging and finishing Sheetrock, painting interior and exterior surfaces and installing shingle and tin roofing.
Experience in building efficient concrete formwork for all commercial activities.
Knowledge of siding and moldings, sections of weather stripping, openings in sheetrock and lumber using hand tools and power tools.
Experience in performing HVAC repairs and installations, plumbing, mechanical piping, electrical, paint and tile repair.
Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets.
Communication skills - providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details with other building specialists.
Ability to interpret construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings.
Time-management – ability to meet deadlines and ensuring construction phases are completed on time.
