Artisan bakery and café in Palisades Village is hiring a dependable and hardworking Baker Assistant to support our bread and pastry production team.
Pay: $20–$22 per hour, based on experience
Job Type: Full-time or part-time
Schedule: Approximately 4:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Location: Palisades Village, Pacific Palisades
Availability: Weekends and certain holidays required
Professional bakery or kitchen experience is desirable. We are also willing to train a reliable candidate with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and genuine interest in baking.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Bread Baker and Pastry Baker with daily production.
- Scale ingredients and prepare pans, trays, racks, parchment, and tools.
- Portion, pan, shape, garnish, egg-wash, glaze, fill, and finish products.
- Assist with pastries, breads, muffins, scones, cookies, bars, cakes, and rolls.
- Organize products on cooling racks.
- Package, label, date, rotate, and store finished products.
- Prepare and refill the bread and pastry displays.
- Prepare ingredients and components for the following production day.
- Maintain ingredient bins, labels, packaging, and production supplies.
- Wash and sanitize bowls, pans, trays, tools, and mixer attachments.
- Keep floors, tables, racks, sinks, shelves, and production areas clean.
- Remove trash, recycling, and food waste.
- Follow food-safety, allergen-control, sanitation, and workplace-safety procedures.
Requirements
- Bakery, restaurant, kitchen, culinary, or food-production experience is desirable.
- Strong interest in learning professional bread and pastry production.
- Ability to follow recipes, measurements, production schedules, and instructions accurately.
- Willingness to perform both baking-support and cleaning duties.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality and organization.
- Ability to arrive reliably for a 4:30 a.m. shift.
- Ability to read and communicate in English sufficiently to follow recipes, labels, safety instructions, and production directions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for an extended shift.
- Weekend and holiday availability.
- Food-handler certification or willingness to obtain one promptly.
