Job Responsibilities:
The Community & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Community Engagement team in the provision of educational and public awareness programs and trainings/workshops in the community, and youth-focused work designed to increase understanding of and sensitivity to domestic and dating violence. The Coordinator is additionally responsible for the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers to support a wide range of agency activities, including direct service, events and administration and also assists the development team with fundraising, event planning, and other activities with the goal of increasing revenue and raising awareness for the organization. This position reports directly to the Director of Community Engagement and works closely with the Education and Outreach Coordinator.
Essential Functions:
● Develop, coordinate, and attend outreach events on behalf of the Agency, including at schools, colleges and community events
● Collaborate in the design and development of awareness and engagement campaigns on social media, print, and web platforms
● Proactively develop and maintain relationships with local colleges, businesses and other volunteer placement offices to recruit volunteers
● Manage assessment of ongoing need and recruitment efforts for volunteers across the organization
● In collaboration with the Education and Outreach Coordinator, develop, facilitate, and assess presentations, trainings, and workshops both within the agency and to the community at large
● Coordinate and deliver volunteer trainings, orientations, and recognition activities, including volunteer data management and tracking
● Provide ongoing guidance and support to program volunteers
● Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events
● Manage ongoing need for and organization of in-kind donations
● Perform other duties as needed, assigned, and directed
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide ongoing support and guidance to program volunteers.
Working Conditions:
Primarily working in a combined shelter and office environment. Position requires occasional weekend and evening hours. Moderate travel within the county required.
Organizational Responsibilities:
● Share responsibility for anti-racist, multi-cultural organizational perspective and Steps to End Domestic Violence’s social change mission
● Participate in team meetings, all-staff meetings and trainings, and supervision meetings
● Participate in performance evaluations and annual program planning
● Participate in hotline coverage and shelter support
● Participate in and present at agency-wide meetings and events including the thrice yearly Community Advocate Training
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Expertise in training and facilitation required
- Comfortability and enthusiasm in interacting with the public, in a wide variety of settings
- Experience in volunteer recruitment and management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners, and demonstrated knowledge of community resources
- Comfort with and skill in public speaking required
- Organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings

This full-time (40hrs/wk) position pays between $23-$25/hr based on experience, with annual raises for COLA and tenure, and is eligible for a generous benefits package, which includes health, dental, vision and life insurance, 403b plan, and combined time off starting at 24 paid days off, 9 paid holidays in 2026.
