Notice for Open Position: Customer Service Representative/ Backup Teller
Position: Full-time
Location: Kaliste Saloom Branch, Lafayette, LA
Position Summary
This position combines customer service excellence with teller support. The primary focus is on opening and maintaining customer accounts, cross-selling bank products, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Teller duties will be performed during peak times, holidays, and staff absences.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Full knowledge of the Business Process Manager, and other systems that pertain to job
- Learn all characteristics of bank products in order to cross-sell products effectively and to advise customers of the best product that may fit their needs.
- Issue Debit cards to new customers and assist cardholder if change is needed.
- Complete all documents regarding Successions and IOLTA accounts.
- Open and sort mail, distribute accordingly
- Check CIF maintenance forms
- Check daily reports for Time Certificates of Deposit, Savings, Checking, and IRA contribution/distributions.
- Order Customer checks
- Reconcile bank statement for customers
- Process stop payment orders
- Process information for Wire Transfers
- Safe Deposit Boxes: Responsible for taking all initial information when customer first rents box; assisting customer in gaining access to their box; processing payments and maintaining file system of accounts.
- Handle customers’ inquiries/complaints with discretion and in a professional manner.
- Other duties, as assigned
Teller Duties
- Process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments
- Sell money orders and cashier’s checks
- Balance cash drawer and ATM
- Handle night deposits and mail transactions
- Promote bank services and maintain product knowledge
- All other duties, as assigned
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma, technical school certificate or college diploma; or minimum one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of either.
- Continuing education courses in banking, specifically cross-selling and product knowledge to be acquired.
Skills & Attributes
Knowledge of computers is required.

Physical & Mental Requirements
- Close vision is required for this position (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Typing and computer work is necessary. Sitting, walking, talking, hearing and using the hands and fingers are necessary. Moderate lifting up to 25 pounds is required some of the time.
- Concentration with moderate noise levels (EX. typewriters, computers, printers, light traffic) is necessary. Use of Interpersonal skills with customers and co-workers is a must.
Qualities Preferred
- Confident, self-starter, friendly. Minimal supervision needed. Must be able to get along with others.
Other
- Some independent judgment is required under moderate supervision. Will have contact with customers, the public and the community, and is to conduct relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank. Will be called upon from time to time to participate in community organizations and projects. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
