Cazenovia Community Preschool (CCP) was founded in 1969 and has been an integral part of the Cazenovia-area community for over 50 years. At the heart of Cazenovia Community Preschool (CCP), our mission is to provide a well-rounded and nurturing learning experience for children of Cazenovia and surrounding areas, regardless of income or ability, with the goal of supporting the full development of each child's potential. The programs' curriculum emphasize language, cognitive, social, physical, emotional and creative development.

General Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible certified teacher, highly qualified teaching assistant or experienced youth program coordinator to lead our after-school program. The Lead will work directly with students, facilitate activities, and manage the day to day operations of the after-school program. The lead works independently and is responsible for the supervision, care and safety of all students, ages 4 years old -9 years old, enrolled in the after-school program. This role reports directly to the Director.
This position runs September 8, 2026 - June 23, 2027
Key Responsibilities:
- Transit: Responsible for signing out students enrolled in the CCP after-school program at the front office of Burton Street Elementary School at 2:28 and chaperoning them (via sidewalk) safely back to CCP.
- Scheduling: Create a schedule for the after-school program to include time for snack, homework/quiet time, enrichment activities and/or play time.
- Classroom Management: Create and plan Science, Art, and Nature projects based on student’s interests. Offer homework assistance to any student as needed. Take students outside to play on the playground (weather permitting).
- Parent Communication: Maintain communication with parents/guardians, regarding any changes in daily routine, i.e., schedule, behavior issues, or illness/injury.
- Facility Maintenance: Responsible for a thorough clean-up of the space at the end of the day, including vacuuming, mopping, running the dishwasher, taking out the trash, etc. Responsible for safe lock-up of the CCP building following the departure of the last student.
- Staff Meetings: Attends all staff meetings and recommended training programs. Attends CCP Board meetings as needed.
Experience:
- Can work effectively with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds
- Knowledge of early childhood education
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with school age children, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, HS Diploma required.
- CPR/First Aid certification required.
- Must pass a federal background check.
- Should have reliable transportation

$16-$20/hour
Schedule
*This position runs September 8, 2026 - June 23, 2027
2:00-6:00, Monday -Friday
10-month school-year position, September- end of June (optional summer hours available)

CCP offers a supportive workplace and a schedule that aligns with the school calendar.
- School calendar schedule: The Cazenovia Community Preschool calendar follows the Cazenovia Central School District Calendar in observance of holidays, closures, and breaks. CCP also follows the Cazenovia Central School District regarding school closings for weather or any other reason. All CCP programs, including the after-school program are CANCELED for both Cazenovia Central School District snow days and half days.
- Workman’s Compensation: Insurance coverage is for injury or disease incurred on the job. There is a 7 day wait period unless disability is longer than 14 days. If longer, payment is made from the first day.
- Disability Insurance: Coverage is for injury or disease off the job. There are no medical payments with disability. There is a 7-day wait period. Each employee can receive 50% of his or her average weekly wage up to a maximum allowed amount.
- New York State Unemployment Insurance.
- Family Medical Leave Act. (caveat, this is different between part-time and full time)
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
