The Hydrocarbon Specialist reports directly to the Director of Extraction and is responsible for safely operating Satori VT's hydrocarbon manufacturing laboratory utilizing an Illuminated Extractors E-4K closed-loop extraction system with a Pro-Jak refrigeration system. This role is responsible for producing premium hydrocarbon concentrates throughout the entire commercial manufacturing process—from biomass preparation and extraction through post-processing, solvent recovery, and finished product production.
This position requires a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented professional who is committed to safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Hydrocarbon Manufacturing
- Safely operate the Illuminated Extractors E-4K closed-loop hydrocarbon extraction system.
- Follow all established SOPs and daily production schedules.
- Process fresh frozen cannabis into Live Resin, THCA, and High Terpene Extract (HT).
- Process dried biomass into Cured Resin and crude oil for distillate production.
- Process approved third-party manufacturing projects.
Post-Processing
- Complete hydrocarbon post-processing from extraction through finished concentrates.
- Produce Live Resin, Badder, Diamonds & Sauce, Shatter, THCA Isolate, and High Terpene Extract.
- Monitor vacuum ovens during solvent recovery, crystallization, and curing.
- Assist with product development and new concentrate formulations.
Distillation Support
- Perform winterization of crude extracts.
- Operate and maintain rotary evaporators for solvent recovery.
- Prepare crude oil for distillation.
- Support short-path distillation operations, including setup, operation, cleanup, and maintenance.
Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain hydrocarbon extraction and post-processing equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations and SOPs.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate repair needs.
- Maintain equipment maintenance logs and service records.
- Assist with equipment calibration, startup, shutdown, and validation following repairs.
Inventory & Compliance
- Maintain accurate production documentation.
- Track biomass usage, solvent usage, yields, waste streams, and finished inventory.
- Ensure compliance with Vermont Cannabis Control Board regulations, GMP standards, and company SOPs.
Laboratory Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory.
- Wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.
- Assist other members of the Commercial Manufacturing Department as needed.
- Recommend improvements to equipment, workflows, SOPs, and manufacturing processes.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required
· Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass Vermont Cannabis Control Board background requirements.
· 1–2 years of commercial hydrocarbon extraction experience operating a closed-loop system with active solvent recovery.
· Commercial cannabis manufacturing experience.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills. · Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. · Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. PreferredExperience with:

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
