Property Maintenance Technician I

Fairbanks Resource Agency is looking for a reliable and skilled Property Maintenance Technician I to help keep our buildings, apartments, and grounds safe, clean, and well-maintained. This position responds to maintenance requests through the facilities work order system and performs a variety of general maintenance duties, including basic duties related to: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical repairs, housekeeping, and groundskeeping.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, can work independently, and takes pride in keeping properties in excellent condition.
What You’ll Do
Respond to maintenance work orders and service calls for general repairs.
Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work.
Complete painting, drywall repair, fixture installation, and light appliance maintenance.
Assist with roofing, siding, gutters, HVAC filter changes, and other routine maintenance.
Help prepare buildings and apartments for inspections, licensing reviews, and move-ins.
Perform groundskeeping and custodial work, including lawn care and snow removal.
Keep tools, equipment, and storage areas clean, organized, and safe.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, including on-call rotation as needed.
Follow all safety standards and FRA policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of maintenance experience, preferably in a residential or facilities setting.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, mechanical repair, housekeeping, and groundskeeping.
Ability to use tools and equipment safely.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Basic computer skills, including Word and Outlook.
Professional and courteous communication with residents, staff, vendors, and contractors.
Flexible schedule and willingness to respond to emergencies when needed.
Reliable transportation and a good driving record.
Requirements
Alaska Driver’s License.
Must meet agency insurance requirements for driving agency or personal vehicles on agency business.
Adult CPR certification.
First Aid certification.
Annual PPD test.
Hepatitis B immunization or waiver.
Physical Requirements
This position requires heavy physical work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing for long periods, repetitive hand movements, and driving. Work may take place indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and may involve noise, dust, fumes, odors, or poor ventilation.
