Job Description
Job Overview
The Social Service Provider will accurately assess the needs of low-income persons and provide
appropriate basic and emergency services to address those needs.
Accountability is to the Services & Programs Coordinator .
Specific Duties
Client intake and referral:
● Interview clients to assess needs.
● Provide direct services appropriate for specific situations.
● Manage the lobby window.
● Make decisions on the basis of individual circumstances and within VAC
program guidelines.
● Refer clients to other agencies in order to meet additional needs.
● Creatively address needs that do not fall into existing agency and program guidelines.
● Maintain current knowledge of community services.
● Maintain current information about community resources so clients can be
appropriately referred for additional services at other agencies.
● Provide referrals and information as appropriate.
● Maintain proper records on client contacts and referrals.
● Assist with maintaining supplies and other stored items.
● Answer phone calls and assess client needs.
● Maintain a good working relationship between VAC and other social service agencies/resources
in the community.
● Maintain professionalism while working with people from various populations and backgrounds.
● Be proficient in Apricot client database
Additional Duties
● Be available for VAC fundraising events and programs as requested by the Executive Director.
● Represent VAC at meetings and other collaborations of social service agencies.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
● Evaluate information and conditions affecting the community and client population.
● Be familiar with current community needs.
● Attend pertinent workshops, meetings and seminars related to VAC's work.
● Recruit, facilitate, and direct VAC volunteers in cooperation with other staff.
● Ability to speak and interpret Spanish would be a plus.
Pay: From $17.50 per hour
