Motas is seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead our HR function and serve as a trusted partner to company leadership.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Human Resources across a workforce of approximately 100 employees. The ideal candidate is highly organized, confident handling employee-relations matters, comfortable working independently, and able to balance compliance, recruiting, payroll, benefits, and employee support in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the HR function, including oversight of the HR Assistant
- Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning
- Process payroll and maintain accurate employee pay and employment records
- Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), COBRA, and open enrollment
- Manage attendance records, employee scheduling agreements, and employment documentation
- Administer FMLA, leave requests, workplace accommodations, modified duty, and return-to-work processes
- Manage workers' compensation and unemployment claims
- Support managers with employee performance, discipline, and documentation
- Lead sensitive employee investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, serious misconduct, and other employee-relations matters
- Maintain employee files, HR systems, policies, handbooks, and required acknowledgments
- Maintain OSHA/MIOSHA and other employment-related compliance records
- Oversee administrative tracking of employee training and performance-review programs
- Maintain company job descriptions and work with managers to keep them current
- Track turnover, retention, and employee concerns and recommend areas for improvement
- Coordinate companywide employee communications
- Plan and run periodic company meetings and employee events, including occasional weekend meetings/events
Qualifications
- Prior Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Manager or senior HR Generalist role
- Experience with payroll, benefits, employee relations, and HR compliance
- Strong knowledge of employment policies and workplace documentation
- Strong organizational, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- High degree of discretion and professionalism
- Comfortable making independent decisions and working directly with managers and senior leadership
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficiency with HR/payroll systems and standard office software
Preferred:
- Experience with workers' compensation, unemployment, FMLA, ADA/accommodations, and OSHA/MIOSHA administration
- Experience supervising HR or recruiting staff
- Experience in transportation, logistics, warehouse, or another operational environment
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
