Position Summary
The Event Coordinator will play a key role in the planning, execution, and promotion of various events and activities aimed at enriching the downtown experience for residents and visitors alike. Working with the Executive Director, the DAA Program Committee, vendors, and other downtown organizations, this role is responsible for bringing people together through thoughtful, inclusive programming that reflects the character of the community, supports local businesses, and shapes how residents, employees and visitors experience and perceive Downtown Allentown. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a seasonal event calendar aligned with organizational priorities and available budget
- Partner with event organizers and downtown businesses to create cross-promotional activities and coordinated experiences that encourage visitors to stay longer and explore more of Downtown Allentown
- Research, book, and coordinate all event logistics from concept through execution, including venues, vendors, entertainment, catering, and collateral
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community partners, and sponsors to support and enhance programming
- Coordinate event communications including social media, email, and flyers in collaboration with vendors or volunteers
- Attend and manage events personally; coordinate volunteer or vendor support as needed
- Handle event setup, breakdown, and cleanup
- Track event outcomes and provide brief summary reports to leadership
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in event planning, community organizing, or a related role
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks with minimal oversight
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends as events require
- Proficient in email, MS Office, and basic social media platforms
- Ability to lift and transport supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field a plus; nonprofit or community-based experience valued
Hours & Compensation
- Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility around event schedules
- Evenings and weekends required as needed
- Compensation commensurate with experience
Pay: $24.96 - $29.26 per hour
