This is a hybrid position based in Atlanta, GA. Candidates must currently reside within reasonable driving distance of the Atlanta client office and be able to work onsite as required. This position is not available as a fully remote opportunity.
Allied Staff Augmentation Partners (ASAP) is hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Cost Control Specialist to support major capital projects in the energy and utilities sector in Atlanta, GA.
This position will play a key role in project financial performance by managing cost tracking, forecasting, accruals, commitments, variance analysis, and other project controls activities. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of project controls or cost management experience supporting capital projects. Previous experience within the energy, utilities, power, or related infrastructure sectors is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track and analyze project costs, including approved budgets, commitments, actual expenditures, accruals, and forecasts.
- Prepare and manage monthly project accruals to ensure costs are accurately recorded and forecasted.
- Develop monthly cost forecasts and provide variance explanations identifying key cost drivers, trends, risks, and potential corrective actions.
- Coordinate monthly forecasting reviews with project managers, discipline leads, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate remaining project work, outstanding commitments, and forecast assumptions to maintain accurate cost projections.
- Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
- Monitor project commitments and validate contractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.
- Support the evaluation, documentation, and processing of change orders and project funding requests.
- Assist with capital project closeout, including final cost reporting and reconciliation of outstanding commitments.
- Support the placement of completed project assets into service.
- Assist with the annual capital budgeting process.
- Prepare cost information and reporting to support project leadership and informed decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project controls, cost controls, cost management, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with project cost tracking, forecasting, accruals, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Experience managing or supporting purchase requisitions, purchase orders, commitments, invoices, and change orders.
- Experience supporting capital projects and project closeout activities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting energy, utility, power, or large-scale infrastructure capital projects is highly preferred.
Pay: $57.69 - $67.31 per hour
