Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Reach Truck Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently operating reach trucks and other heavy equipment to handle materials, manage inventory, and support warehouse distribution operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, safety awareness, and experience with warehouse management systems. This position plays a vital role in ensuring smooth shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment processes while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse.
- Perform order picking accurately using reach trucks and other equipment to fulfill customer orders efficiently.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities by verifying shipments, inspecting loads, and ensuring proper documentation.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor repairs to maintain optimal operation; escalate mechanical issues as needed.
- Support warehouse management system data entry for inventory tracking, order processing, and stock levels.
- Handle materials with care during stacking, palletizing, and storage to prevent damage or safety hazards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage layouts and improve workflow efficiency.
- Participate in safety training sessions and adhere strictly to safety protocols during all operations.
- Assist with general warehouse duties including inventory counts, material handling, and supporting team members as required.
Skills
- Proven experience operating reach trucks, lift trucks, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, and heavy equipment in a warehouse setting.
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to forklift operation and materials handling.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for inventory counts and measurements.
- Excellent attention to detail for order picking accuracy and documentation compliance.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Prior experience in shipping & receiving, materials handling, or warehouse distribution is highly desirable.
