Job Summary:
The Activities Director works with resident committees to design, deliver and publicize a variety of programs that provide opportunities for socialization, continuing education, entertainment, relaxation and fulfillment, as well as opportunities to improve functioning in activities of daily living.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Assist residents in the organization and continued development of a Residents’ Council and programming committees
- Meet individually with new residents within 10 days of move-in to instruct them in emergency procedures, review advance directives, obtain completed “Resident Interest Survey” and ensure that all information on face sheet is complete and correct
- With individual residents and resident committees, develop and implement programming that meets the needs of the resident population; ensure that residents are engaged appropriately in managing, teaching, and publicizing events, classes, and recreational activities in order to promote the highest possible levels of autonomy, satisfaction and responsibility.
- Ensure that activity calendars and invitations are communicated through various means to residents, staff and volunteers
- Manage Eden’s volunteer program
- Organize and coordinate outings, including scheduled shopping trips; drive Eden vehicle as needed
- Initiate and promote activities within the building, on the property and in/with the larger community. Solicit the involvement of outside clubs, groups, organizations, agencies, churches, and individuals when planning facility activities and events and promote collaborations as appropriate
- Maintain department records and manage budget and supplies
- Oversee seasonal decorating inside the buildings
- Participate in staff orientation and training as well as staff meetings as assigned. Maintain collegial working relationships with all staff and promote SLF regulations in particular rules regarding resident’s rights; promote positive relationships among residents, visitors and licensing agencies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
