We are seeking an energetic and customer-focused Cashier to join our retail team! Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately and efficiently during retail sales transactions, including scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts.
- Verify customers age and check valid ID's for all tobacco and alcohol purchases in full compliance with federal and state regulations."
- Handle cash drawer operations with precision, including cash handling, balancing registers, and reconciling daily sales.
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance the customer experience and increase sales opportunities.
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and assist with merchandising efforts to maintain an attractive store environment.
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering customer inquiries or providing information about products and services.
- Support product demos when applicable to educate customers about features and benefits of items in the store.
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking supplies, conducting stock counts, and organizing backroom storage.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and deliver outstanding customer service at all times.
Qualifications
- previous retail experience preferred. Knowledge of tobacco products, craft beer, or wine varieties is strong plus. Must be comfortable learning our product lines and educating customers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in both bilingual settings (if applicable).
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and managing retail math calculations.
- Experience with POS systems, cash register operations, and cash drawer handling is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service with patience and professionalism.
- Supervising experience or prior leadership roles are advantageous for supporting team efforts.
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and upselling strategies.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves, and work flexible hours as needed.
