Overview
We are now hiring a full time Patient Service Representee for a federally qualified community health center in Pickens County & Anderson County that specializes in primary medicine, internal medicine, behavioral health and women's health. The positions is full-time hours each week, 8am until 5pm, Monday thru Friday with an hour lunch each day. One Great benefits upon permanent hire after completing probationary period. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of medical administrative procedures, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care coordination, streamline office operations, and support the overall efficiency of our healthcare services.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
- Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Collect patient demographics, update medical records, and review documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing information and directing calls appropriately.
- Assist with billing processes by verifying insurance information, coding procedures with CPT and ICD codes, and processing payments.
- Maintain organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
- Support front desk operations by managing filing systems, data entry tasks such as 10 key typing, and documentation review.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake, follow-up appointments, and care plan documentation.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and computer skills while utilizing Microsoft Office applications for administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding systems, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes including Medicare and private payers.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with dental or hospital management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is advantageous.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
