Starting with just eight volunteers visiting four families weekly, it has grown to serve over 3,000 individuals and their families with the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Friendship Circle provides educational, recreational, social, and vocational programs that empower participants to build skills, confidence, and connections while fostering an inclusive community. Schedule: Full time and part time positions available.
Job Overview: Friendship Circle is seeking a dedicated Life Skills Facilitator to teach and support adults with special needs in a structured, classroom-based setting. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fostering independence and inclusion in a dynamic, engaging environment. The Life Skills Facilitator is responsible for delivering programming within their classroom, working from a provided curriculum while bringing the creativity, preparation, and flexibility needed to meet the needs of every learner. The ideal candidate is adaptable, enthusiastic about working with individuals of varying abilities, and committed to creating a supportive and enriching experience for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, meaningful lessons using the provided curriculum as a foundation.
- Prepare materials and adapt lesson plans as needed to meet the needs of diverse learners in your classroom.
- Pivot instruction in the moment to respond to participant needs, energy, and engagement.
- Create supplemental activities and content when the situation calls for it.
- Teach daily living skills, such as personal organization, self-care, and household management.
- Monitor participant progress and provide ongoing feedback and encouragement.
- Collaborate fellow program staff to maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain a structured, supportive, and engaging learning space tailored to individuals with varying abilities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with special needs (two years preferred).
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work from a provided curriculum while exercising creativity and professional judgment.
- Ability to adapt to different program structures and schedules.
- Passion for fostering independence and inclusion for individuals with special needs.
- Excellent communication skills and adaptability in diverse settings.
Compensation: Starts at $40,000 (Full Time) + Benefits
