The Job
The Benefits Specialist will assist SIDECAR HR clients and employees with benefit plan inquiries received via email or phone. Inquiries received may be regarding client specific plans or “master” plans offered by SIDECAR HR across all worksite employees. Being able to prioritize multiple inquiries, ensuring timely follow-up and providing accurate guidance are key components of success for this position.
Below are the general duties and responsibilities of a Benefit Specialist:
- Answer telephone and email inquiries from clients, employees, insurance carriers and vendors and route inquiries to the correct team member, taking ownership of those related to benefits administration.
- Accurately and timely resolve inquiries and requests regarding benefit information, including health, ancillary and retirement plans.
- Process benefit enrollments, changes and terminations for client-specific and Master benefit plans timely and accurately using an employee benefit enrollment platform and insurance carrier websites
- Coordinate and track Disability and Life insurance claim requests
- Maintain benefit information within the payroll system, to include setting up payroll deductions and benefit adjustments.
- Research and resolve employee issues with payroll system and insurance providers
- Assist employees in enrolling in dental, vision, medical insurance plans and a variety of ancillary benefit offerings
- Provide newly hired employees with explanations of benefits and assist with enrollment and fulfillment procedures
- May assist with Benefit Reconciliation as it relates to billing or enrollment changes, terminations, new additions or discrepancies between the payroll system and insurance carrier.
- Assist with Cobra and Leave of Absence administration
- Administer insurance plans while adhering to set laws and regulations
- Provide ongoing support for the SIDECAR HR Client Services and Benefits Teams
- Other duties as may be assigned by Management.
The Qualifications
- 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience for Benefits Administration
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate in a professional manner.
- Ability to perform complex administrative tasks involving use of independent good judgment and attention to detail
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work overtime when needed to accommodate increased workload during open enrollment periods.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Prism HR payroll software

Other Information
- This non-exempt position will report to the Director of Benefits.
- Standard work hours are 8 am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
