GENERAL FUNCTION: The Daycare Floater/Substitute provides flexible classroom support to ensure a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised environment for children. This role steps in as needed to cover staff absences, assist during peak times, and support daily classroom operations while maintaining licensing ratios and program standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field
- 2 years’ experience working with children per DHS regulations. (2500 verified hours experience in childcare)
- Effective Communication; written, oral and through presentations
- Requires current Pediatric First Aid/CPR/ED certifications
- Must have strong collaborative work ethic
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise children at all times to ensure safety, well-being, and positive behavior
- Support lead and assistant teachers with daily classroom activities and routines
- Step into classrooms as needed to maintain required staff-to-child ratios
- Assist with transitions, meals, snacks, rest time, and outdoor play
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that support social, emotional, and developmental growth
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures
- Communicate respectfully with staff, children, and families
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Perform light housekeeping duties related to classroom cleanliness and organization
