Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting treatment plans, patient interactions, and clinical findings in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Skills
- Proficiency in Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical coding standards.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices including pediatric patient care and pediatrics-specific procedures.
- Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on patient comfort, infection prevention, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment with precision.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, medical records management, and documentation review processes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about dental health while demonstrating professionalism in a general dentistry setting.
