Bloom Upstate is seeking dependable, creative, and motivated Youth Program Mentors to support our expanding programming for girls ages 8–18. As we grow into new elementary schools and housing communities, we are looking for self-starters who are passionate about youth development, take initiative, and thrive in dynamic, community-based environments.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to mentor youth while building skills in leadership, program planning, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to girls ages 8–18, fostering trust, confidence, and connection.
- Assist Squad Leaders with the planning and delivery of youth workshops, outings, and enrichment events.
- Support daily program logistics while maintaining a fun, inclusive, and safe environment.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with youth, families, teammates, and community partners.
- Regularly update Bloom Upstate’s social media platforms and create flyers using Canva.
- Bring initiative and creative energy to program delivery and student engagement.
- Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage real-time changes or challenges.
- Be adaptable and flexible in fast-paced, community-based settings.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the success of Bloom Upstate’s programs.
Requirements
- Open availability Monday–Thursday from 3:00 PM – 7:30 PM, with occasional weekend availability required.
- Ability to commit to up to 20 hours per week.
- Reliable transportation to travel between school sites and housing communities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and consistent in attendance and communication.
- Experience working directly with youth in educational, mentoring, or community settings.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must pass a criminal background check prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Canva and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
- Interest in youth development, public service, or social impact work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and grow in a supportive, mission-driven environment
