Position Summary:
Must have mechanical knowledge and experience sufficient to repair and maintain fleet of trucks with the result of reducing downtime and increasing safety. Must be able to inspect, troubleshoot, conduct diagnostics, and repair situations that occur.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of diesel engine repairs.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair brake systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair air conditioning systems.
- Perform general and preventive maintenance on transport, bobtail, and small fleet trucks.
- Conduct Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair minor electrical issues.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair wheels and tires.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair hydraulic systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair refined petroleum equipment.
- Complete all repairs and preventive maintenance (PMs) in accordance with manufacturer and Pilot Thomas Logistics (PTL) specifications and guidelines.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Ensure all work documentation complies with PTL policies.
Minimum Requirements:
- 1-3 years of general heavy-duty diesel truck mechanic experience, and/or completion of a technical school program.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of equipment condition.
- Ability to read and understand written documentation and technical manuals.
- Adherence to operating procedures and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Ability to use CMMS for all maintenance workorders
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must supply own tools, including more than basic hand tools (up to 1.5" " drive).
- Must possess electric or air tools.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic valves, controls, and motors.
- Basic understanding of refined petroleum equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Brake and Air Conditioning Certification required
- Level 1 Mechanic Certification or experience commiserate to successfully perform functions of the position
